Booking & Reservations

How do I book a car with QCar Rentals?

Pick your dates and pickup location on the homepage booking form, choose the exact model you want, and confirm the booking with a 10% prepayment. The 10% is not an extra charge β€” it’s deducted from the total, and the remaining amount is settled on pickup by card or cash. You’ll receive an instant email confirmation.

Do I need to pay a security deposit?

No. We never block funds on your card and never hold a security deposit. The 10% you pay at booking is a partial prepayment that goes against your final invoice β€” not a hold. Your money stays in your account for your holiday.

Is the car I see online the car I actually get?

Yes β€” guaranteed. There is no β€œor similar” clause at QCar. The exact make, model, and year you book is the car you receive at pickup. This is the core of our boutique promise. In the rare case the booked car becomes unavailable through circumstances beyond our control, we upgrade you to a higher category at no extra cost and notify you in advance.

What is the minimum rental period?

online bookings are 3-days minimum, for less than 3 day-rentals, you can contact us for availability, and we can assist if available.

Is mileage limited?

No. All rentals include unlimited mileage across the Republic of Cyprus, monthly

Do you offer weekly or monthly rates?

Yes. Daily rates drop noticeably as your rental gets longer. Send us your dates on WhatsApp and we’ll send back the exact weekly or monthly figure for your specific car. Long-stay residents and digital nomads β€” ask about our extended-rental rates.

Can I book for someone else?

Yes, as long as the named driver meets our age and licence requirements and is present at pickup with their licence and Passport or ID if European. Add their details when you book, or message us before pickup.

Pickup & Delivery

Where can I pick up my car?

You can collect from Larnaca International Airport, our Larnaca office, or have the car delivered to Dekhelia, Larnaca City, Oroklini, or British Base Dekhelia. Delivery to Ayia Napa and Protaras is available β€” the delivery fee depends on your rental length (longer rentals get a smaller delivery charge).

Are you open on weekends and public holidays?

Pickup and drop-off are available 24/7, every day of the year β€” including weekends, public holidays, and overnight. Our walk-in office in Larnaca has limited hours, but the rental experience is built around airport and door-to-door handover, so you don’t need to visit the office.

Do you offer airport meet & greet?

Yes. During daytime hours a human concierge meets you in the Larnaca Airport arrivals hall β€” no shuttle bus, no queue. Outside daytime hours we switch to seamless contactless pickup with the same level of clarity, just delivered via WhatsApp.

What happens if my flight arrives outside business hours?

An after-hours surcharge of €12 applies for any pickup or drop-off between 19:00 and 08:45. Either side counted separately β€” for example, a late-evening arrival plus an early-morning return is €24 total. We send full WhatsApp instructions before you land so the car is ready and waiting; no extra waiting time.

What if my flight is delayed?

Just keep us posted on WhatsApp. We track the flight number you give us at booking and accommodate normal delays without extra charges.

How long does pickup actually take?

Around 7–10 minutes. Most paperwork is prepared on WhatsApp in advance, so handover is a quick walkthrough, signature, keys, and you’re driving.

Can I return the car to a different location?

Yes. One-way returns within our standard service network are supported with no extra drop-off fee on top of delivery. Pick the return location during booking β€” or, if your spot isn’t listed, message the team and we’ll arrange a custom drop-off.

How much is delivery to my hotel or Airbnb?

Inside Larnaca district: free. Beyond that (Ayia Napa, Protaras, Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia) the fee depends on your rental length β€” longer rentals carry a smaller per-day share of delivery. Send your address on WhatsApp and we’ll confirm the exact figure before you book.

Driver Requirements

What are the age requirements?

Drivers aged 25–65 qualify for our standard Shield Plus and Platinum packages.

Drivers aged 21–24 or 66–75 rent under Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) terms with a €900 excess, plus a €19/day young or senior driver surcharge. Tires and windshield are not included in SCDW cover.

How long do I need to have held my licence?

A minimum of 3 years on a valid driving licence β€” applies to the named driver and every additional driver listed on the agreement.

Which licences do you accept? Do I need an International Driving Permit?

EU and UK licences are accepted directly. Any other licence is accepted as long as it is in readable English and certified. For non-EU / non-UK licences, we recommend you also carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your national licence β€” it removes any friction at roadside checks.

Can I add an additional driver?

Yes β€” additional drivers must meet the same age and 3-year licence requirements and must be listed on the rental agreement. The fee is €2.50 per day per additional driver.

What documents do I bring at pickup?

Three things: a valid passport or national ID, the original physical driving licence for every named driver, and the card you intend to pay with. Photos or scans aren’t accepted by Cyprus authorities.

Insurance & Protection

What’s the difference between Shield Plus and Platinum?

Shield Plus β€” our standard boutique package. Comprehensive insurance with a €500 maximum excess, theft protection, roadside assistance available. Tires, glass, and undercarriage are not included.

Platinum β€” our zero-risk package. €0 excess, full windshield and glass protection, first tire replacement free, full undercarriage cover, and 24/7 roadside assistance included free of charge.in case of an accident, it should be reported immediatly, or the insurance will be void, also negligence, and driving violations affect the insurance.

Is insurance always included in the price?

Yes. Every rental includes Shield Plus by default as long as they meet insurance requirements. You can upgrade to Platinum at booking or pickup for total zero-excess peace of mind.

Are personal belongings covered if something is stolen from the car?

No. Our insurance covers the car itself, not personal belongings. Renters are responsible for the safety of their own items β€” valuables shouldn’t be left visible inside the car. We recommend travel insurance for personal-effect cover.

Is roadside assistance included?

Free under Platinum only. Under Shield Plus and SCDW, roadside assistance is available on demand but charged per call-out. Either way, message our concierge first β€” we coordinate everything.

What if I get a flat tire?

Under Platinum the first tire replacement is free. Under Shield Plus tire damage is the renter’s responsibility. SCDW does not include tires. In all cases, contact our concierge on WhatsApp immediately so we can coordinate replacement or roadside assistance.

What about windshield or glass damage?

Platinum includes full windshield and glass protection. Shield Plus and SCDW do not β€” glass damage on those packages is charged separately.

Is undercarriage damage covered?

Only under Platinum. Shield Plus excludes undercarriage damage β€” most often caused by speed bumps, kerbs, or unpaved roads.

What situations void my insurance?

Insurance becomes void if any of the following happen: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs above the legal limit, serious traffic violations (excessive speeding, running red lights), off-road or unpaved-road driving, using the car for prohibited activities (rallies, towing, paid transport), or allowing an unauthorized person to drive.

Payments & Fees

How can I pay?

We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and virtual cards (Revolut, Wise, Apple Pay, Google Pay) β€” at booking and at pickup. We also accept cash, in Euros only, for the remaining balance at pickup.

Because we don’t take security deposits, debit and virtual cards work without any of the usual hold drama.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. The price you see is the price you pay. Insurance, unlimited mileage, and daytime airport meet & greet are all included in the quoted rate. The only situational extras are after-hours surcharge, young/senior driver surcharge, additional drivers, child seats (premium tier only), and delivery beyond Larnaca district β€” all are quoted up front before you confirm.

Is there an after-hours pickup or drop-off surcharge?

Yes β€” €12 each way for handover between 19:00 and 08:45. Pickup and drop-off are counted separately, so a late-evening arrival plus an early-morning return is €24 in total.

Is there a young-driver or senior surcharge?

Yes β€” €19 per day for drivers aged 21–24 or 66–75, who rent under SCDW terms with a €900 excess (tires and windshield not included).

What fees might apply after the rental?

Possible post-rental charges:

Β· €30 cleaning fee if the car is returned in a poor state (excessive sand, mud, stains, food residue, trash). Normal use isn’t charged β€” we appreciate basic care, no food eaten inside the car.
Β· €100 smoking fee if smoking evidence is detected (odor, ashes, burns).
Β· Refueling charges at local pump rates if the tank is not returned full.
Β· Traffic fines and tolls are passed through to the renter at face value (no admin uplift).
Β· Any damage not covered by your selected insurance.

Will I get a VAT-compliant invoice for my company?

Yes. Send us your company name and VAT number on WhatsApp before pickup and we’ll issue the rental invoice in your company’s name with the correct VAT detail. Standard email invoices are sent automatically once the rental ends.

Extras & Add-ons

Are all your cars automatic?

Yes β€” every car in our fleet is automatic. No manual gearbox to worry about.

Do you provide child seats and boosters?

Standard child seats and boosters: free of charge. Premium ISOFIX seats are €8 per day and should be requested in advance β€” availability on premium seats is limited.

Cyprus law: children under 5 must travel in a suitable seat and are not allowed in the front passenger seat.

Do the cars have GPS, CarPlay, or a phone holder?

All our cars include Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, Bluetooth handsfree, and we provide a phone holder on request β€” so you can navigate with your own apps without breaking the law on phone use while driving.

Do you offer roof boxes or luggage racks?

No. Choose a slightly larger model if you need more boot space β€” message us for a recommendation based on your luggage and group size.

Can I add an extra after pickup?

Yes. Send a message on WhatsApp and we can arrange add-ons (additional driver, child seat upgrade, extension) without you driving back to the office.

Driving in Cyprus

Which side of the road does Cyprus drive on?

The left. Cyprus follows British-style traffic rules. Roads are well-signed in English and Greek, and distances are short β€” even first-time left-side drivers settle in within an hour.

Are there toll roads in Cyprus?

No tolls anywhere on the island, and no vignette is required. Motorways are free.

What are the speed limits?

50 km/h in towns and villages, 80 km/h on rural roads, 100 km/h on motorways. Limits are clearly signed; speed cameras are present on main routes.

What’s the drink-drive limit?

The legal limit follows Cyprus law and is enforced strictly. Driving over the limit is a criminal offence, and any accident under the influence voids your insurance entirely. If you’ve been drinking, take a taxi β€” they’re inexpensive and everywhere.

Can I use my phone while driving?

Holding a phone while driving is a traffic offence in Cyprus. To make life easy we provide every car with CarPlay / Android Auto, Bluetooth handsfree, and a phone holder on request β€” navigate with your own apps, hands free, fully legal.

What are the rules for children in the car?

Children under 5 must travel in a suitable child seat and are not permitted in the front passenger seat. Older children must wear a seatbelt at all times. Standard seats and boosters are free with us β€” request them when you book.

Can I drive on unpaved roads or beaches (Akamas, Lara Bay, Cape Greco)?

No. Off-road or unpaved-road driving is excluded under all our packages and voids insurance. If you want to explore Akamas, the recommended approach is a guided 4Γ—4 tour β€” or rent a true off-road vehicle through a specialist operator.

During Your Rental

What’s the fuel policy?

Full to full. You receive the car with a full tank and return it with a full tank. If less, refuelling charges apply at local pump rates.

Can I drive to Northern Cyprus?

Yes β€” but you must inform us in advance. Our insurance, breakdown, and roadside assistance services do not cover the north. You purchase separate insurance at the border crossing β€” currently around €25 for 3 days. While in the north, you assume full responsibility for the vehicle. We’re more than happy to help β€” just let us know first.

What if a warning light comes on?

Contact us immediately on WhatsApp or by phone. Don’t continue driving if a serious warning appears. For rentals over 14 days, please monitor oil and water levels β€” that’s normal owner behaviour given unlimited mileage. Failing to report a warning light may make you liable for resulting damage.

What if I break down?

Message our concierge on WhatsApp first β€” we coordinate everything. Roadside assistance is free under Platinum. Under Shield Plus and SCDW it’s available on demand but charged per call-out. If your car becomes undriveable, we send a replacement.

Can I smoke in the car?

No β€” smoking is strictly prohibited in all our vehicles. A €100 fee applies if evidence is found on return (odor, ashes, burns).

Can I travel with pets?

Yes, with prior approval. Use a secured pet carrier, and a €30 cleaning fee applies if the car is returned with pet hair, paw marks, or odor. Message us in advance with your situation.

Do your cars have GPS trackers? Will you see where I drive?

Most of our cars carry a tracking device β€” and we’re transparent about it. In line with EU GDPR rules:

Β· The system is used primarily for vehicle speed analysis, not location tracking.
Β· Your real-time location is not accessed by any team member and not shared with anyone, except where required by law (e.g. theft, police request).
Β· The data is processed by computer; humans don’t trawl through it.

This is the same standard practice used by every modern fleet operator in Europe.

Changes, Cancellations & Extensions

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. More than 24 hours before pickup: free cancellation, full prepayment refund.
Inside 24 hours: the 10% prepayment is forfeited.
No-show, or cancellation within the 6-hour window before pickup: one full day of rental is charged.

Can I modify my booking?

Absolutely. Changes to dates, pickup location, or vehicle should be requested at least 24 hours in advance and are subject to availability. Send a WhatsApp message and we’ll handle it.

Can I extend my rental while I’m in Cyprus?

Yes β€” and it happens often. Send a WhatsApp message with your new return date and we’ll update your agreement remotely. No need to come back to the office.
