Car Rental Terms and Conditions Cyprus – QCar Rentals

These car rental terms and conditions Cyprus renters must follow outline the key rules and policies in place when booking a vehicle with QCar Rentals. This page includes important information regarding driver eligibility, insurance, cross-border travel, payment, return procedures, and more to ensure a smooth and safe rental experience for all customers.

• Driver Requirements: Drivers must be between 25 and 65 years old to qualify for our insurance packages. All drivers must hold a valid driving license for at least 3 years. Drivers under 25 are considered young drivers and are only eligible for the Standard Collision Damage Waiver (CDW).
• Additional Drivers: Must meet the same eligibility requirements and be listed on the rental agreement.
• Rental Period: The minimum rental duration is 24 hours. Rentals are calculated on a 24-hour basis starting from the time of pickup.
• Payment Methods: We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Payment is required at the time of booking or pickup, depending on the selected rental plan.

Vehicle Use & Restrictions

• Authorized Drivers: Only drivers listed on the rental agreement may operate the vehicle.
• Prohibited Uses: The vehicle may not be used for illegal activities, off-road driving, towing, racing, or commercial passenger transport. Any violation may result in immediate termination of the rental and void insurance coverage.
• Mileage: Unlimited mileage is included unless stated otherwise in your rental agreement.
• Travel to Northern Cyprus: Travel to the northern part of Cyprus is allowed; however, QCar Rentals must be informed in advance. Our insurance does not cover this region. Renters are required to purchase separate insurance at the border. The renter assumes full responsibility for the vehicle while in the northern area.
• Prohibited Actions: Smoking in the vehicle, transporting animals without approval, using incorrect fuel, unauthorized repairs, or overloading are not allowed.
• Condition & Care: The vehicle must be returned in the same condition it was received, allowing for normal wear and tear.

Pickup & Return

• Pickup: Vehicles can be picked up at designated locations. Delivery within Larnaca, Ayia Napa, or Protaras is available for an additional fee.
• Airport Pickup/Drop-off: Free during business hours. After-hours service may incur additional charges.
• Return: Vehicles must be returned at the agreed time and location. Late returns may result in additional charges.
• Fuel Policy: Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full. Refueling charges apply otherwise.

Cancellations & Modifications

• Cancellation: Free if made more than 24 hours before pickup. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a fee.
• Modifications: Changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance and are subject to availability.

Additional Charges

• Cleaning Fee: A €30 fee applies if the vehicle is returned in an excessively dirty condition. This includes:
  • Sand, mud, or dirt from the beach or outdoor use
  • Stains or dirty upholstery
  • Trash or garbage left in the vehicle
• Smoking Fee: Smoking in the vehicle is strictly prohibited. A €100 fee will apply if evidence is found (odor, ashes, burns).
• Damage Fees: Any damage not covered by your selected insurance package will be charged to the renter, including tire, body, or glass damage.
• Additional Driver Fee: Extra drivers are subject to a per-driver fee and must meet all eligibility requirements.

Insurance & Liability

• Insurance Coverage: Coverage is only valid when the vehicle is used according to the agreement by authorized drivers.
• Exclusions: Insurance becomes void if:
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Violating traffic laws (e.g., speeding, running red lights)
  • Driving off-road or using the vehicle for prohibited activities
  • Allowing unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle
• Responsibility: The renter is liable for all traffic fines, tolls, and penalties. The vehicle must be securely locked when not in use.

Vehicle Condition

• The vehicle is provided in clean, roadworthy condition. It must be returned in similar condition, allowing for normal wear and tear.
• Maintenance & Dashboard Warnings:
  • For short-term rentals (1–7 days), QCar Rentals is responsible for checking fluid levels before handover.
  • In rentals exceeding 14 days, the renter is required to monitor and maintain oil and water levels, particularly due to the unlimited kilometer usage permitted under this agreement.
  • In all cases, the renter must immediately report any warning lights or mechanical issues. Failure to do so may result in liability for any resulting damage.

Jurisdiction

This rental agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus and in accordance with applicable EU consumer protection regulations. Any legal disputes shall be settled by the competent courts of Cyprus.
